More self discovery than romance. But maybe 2.5 from me. Not necessarily my style.
Years after their mother disappeared with a con man, Jess (reluctantly) and her sister Tegan (more enthusiastically) travel across the US with two podcast hosts to try to unravel the mystery of their mother's disappearance . Through their quest Jess and Tegan unpack their own identities, their relationships with their mother and each other and Jess even falls in love. Throughout the book you slowly learn more and more about the sisters, their mother, and then man she left with and grow to root for Jess and Tegan's happiness. I loved this book. I have loved every Kate Clayborn book but this might be my favorite. I have read very few books that are able to effectively navigate romance and mystery but this book does it perfectly! Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC to give an honest review of this book. I honestly loved it:)
The Other Side of Disappearing was a mashup of so many of my favorite things - it has a podcast, a road trip, a romance, a missing mother, and a sisterly bond. Tegan contacts the host of the popular podcast The Last Con of Lynton Baltimore, sure that she can help her find out what happened to her mother, who left her and her sister Jess a decade earlier and ran off with the aforementioned Lynton.
I thought this story was really well done. It takes a bit to get moving since there is a lot to establish with the podcast and who all the characters are. Once it takes off (literally and figuratively) the story is so engaging and had me hooked. I needed to know what happened and was so pleased with the story’s resolution.
The romance was gooooood. Hand holding under tables, trampoline kisses, longing glances… I was so here for all of it. Who knew trampolines could be so sexy?

This was a light romance that had a little more substance to it than others. A mostly enjoyable read but pretty forgettable.
Download or order this book immediately. AND then you’ll need to cue up Zach Bryan + Kacey Musgraves “I Remember Everything” … got it? There’s a point after 85% in, you’ll KNOW it…it’s in italics… hit PLAY. And just read and listen and let it sweep over you and feel that sweet ache that authors rarely achieve but Kate Clayborn seems to hit every single book.
