Listened to the audiobook. A fine book but the plot wasn’t that terribly interesting

2.5 stars. Whiffs of Murakami with the murky details. Super slow at the start. Another one to think: “what did I just read/what was the point of this?”

It is surprisingly easy to forget what you have witnessed, the horrifying image or the voice speaking the unspeakable, in order to exist in the world we must and we do forget, we live in a state of I know but I do not know.
Food for thoughts to come.

I really loved this book - particularly the woven stories and the themes of violence, feeling unmoored and/or without a permanent home, and the way that relationships with others reveal so much about our own selves.
But the ending left me hanging. I felt there were threads left untied and I wanted the author to dig just a little deeper so that I as a reader could feel that the book concluded and the pieces fit together. I suppose that feeling of inconclusiveness was the intention, but it definitely made me drop my rating from four stars to three.
