I really enjoyed this book. It's a great example of the struggles one has with mental health as well as some issues with the mental health system (cost, waiting period). I enjoyed reading it lots though it was very emotional.

Our protagonist, Clara, is a writer working part time as a marketing assistant at a publishing house. We follow her over the course of 2 to 3 months as she battles her depression and trauma resulting from sexual assault (not a spoiler! Says so in synopsis). As she struggles with meeting her writing deadlines and the stress of her underpaying job, she starts to withdraw from friends, finding herself even lonelier than before. I appreciate how the book looked at how friendships are affected by mental illness. When she blows off her friends without notice or leaves a bar without telling her friends, we see how she hurts her friends, even if she is only trying to find respite. An easy read overall, but it could have been longer.

I’m so fucking angry and sad at the burdens women have to carry, and so fucking in love with friendship. Excellent work from Mirion as usual.

"This Is How I Disappear" es una novela gráfica que explora la depresión.

---

"This Is How I Disappear" explores friendship in relation to depression. It's devastating, but also, well done.

The art might not be everyone's cup of tea but really helps the story.

Overall, it's a quick read that tackles several sensitive topics in a genuine way. So it could be hard to read to some people.

TW: depression, suicidal thoughts, reference to past sexual assault.
