very sweet ya romcom, which lynn painter does well of course. this one was nice and short (great for catching up on my reading goal) but i didn’t feel like i was missing anything.

as a main character, emilie felt very on the nose for me (type A eldest daughter of divorce? two of her parents having the same names as my parents?) and the split parents plotline was VERY relatable.

i liked nick, and the vibes were great. the ending wrapped very nicely and i was satisfied. i still prefer better than the movies, but this is still a good one.

I really loved the ending! I mean, Lynn Painter always knows how to make me cry but I found the ending of this book just so sweet.

This was very much a cute and fun high school rom-com. What's not to like? Reliving Valentine's Day over and over is a trope as old as time. Just like Better than the Movies, this book was lighthearted, fun, and adorable. It's not earth-shattering or life-altering, but just like the best Netflix original movies, it is an enjoyable way to spend your weekend without taking up too much brain space. Someone get me a lil charmer like Nick.

4/5⭐️

Stuck in a time loop reliving the worst Valentine’s Day, Emilie Hornby is trying everything she can to get out of it.

For starters, she spots her boyfriend kissing his ex. She loses her spot for a scholarship, her dad accepts a new job offer and no matter what Emilie does differently, she keeps crashing into Nick Stark; the surly chem lab partner who pretends to not even know who she is.

While this book is definitely a bit cheesy and predictable, I ate it up
