This series was an entire flop! I could spend hours on why Melissa Grey should have just kept Echo as a white character instead of randomly making her a Boricua at the end of the trilogy, but I’m too angry to do so. Echo’s internalized racism wasn’t even the only reason why this story didn’t work. There are three relationships between hundred-year-old creatures and literal teenagers. Dare I say more? Aside from that; this entire series is paced awfully, there are story threads that just completely disappear and are never finished, I think the ending made no sense whatsoever, and I'm angry about the ableist magical healing trope. Grey has a new novel coming out that I have requested an ARC for because if it is as racist as this book I will scream!! :)
