Why did I choose this author's smutty age-gap novella as my first introduction to her writing after wanting to read her books for a long time now? I don't know. But I do know that I had a great time reading this, and that I'll definitely pick up her full length (more plotty, slightly less smutty) novels.
I'm glad this didn't really have the "daddy" kink the way a lot of age gap romances do, and that the FMC was 30 rather than, say, 21. Made everything feel much more like an even playing field. Yes, the pacing is whip-fast, and you're not going to get the characterization you would from a full length novel, but I really liked both Alex and Elijah, and their weekend away together made for some spicy reading, perfect for getting out of a slump.

Kayla remains queen of spicy novellas!!!!
I loved this quick read romance! Alex (FMC) is a confident, sexy, sex-positive, curvy 30yo and Elijah (MMC) is workaholic, sexy as hell, silver-fox (and also Alex's dad's best friend and employee!!!)
The two meet when Alex's parents accidentally double book their lake house - a great meet cute, involving a white thong and cooking apron occurs! Both characters are immediately physically attracted to each other, and I absolutely loved how confident Alex was with showing her attraction and being honest with Elijah on what she wants/desires.
The sexual chemistry between them is fire (as always with Kayla's books!!) and I really appreciated how open and honest the two were with what they were looking for as well as what they like in the bedroom (and hot tub, and shower, and beach... lol). The mutual, open communication made their insta-connection that much stronger and more realistic in my opinion.
Eijah never once batted an eye or shamed Alex for her kinks and desires; in fact, he was all in on exploring them together which was soooo HOT!
The "our weekend is over; this is how we agreed it would go" month apart made perfect sense to me and I really liked how the two came back together - Elija admitting he was a scared dummy was great.
Oh & the epilogue - CHEF'S KISS! NO NOTES! PERFECTION!

Not my favourite Kayla book. I love the premise, but the fact that they fall so quickly but not just for each other, but in love with the idea of marriage and babies without having known of the other before is just too much for me.
The weekend premise was nice and I think I could have done with it stopping there. The addedone month later/ epilogue were way too out of left field for my liking.
