This was cute! The writing style took a while to get used to bc it’s very sparse? I prefer a lusher writing style. But once the two MC’s kissed I was on board lol. Also the ending with the newspaper clipping really got me. They’re just very sweet together.

Learning Curve by NR Walker is the fifth book in the Franklin University universe. Vincent Brandt is a genius when it comes to school but struggles with even the simplest social interactions. He finds himself completely off kilter when his new roommate is social butterfly and football star Cobey Green. Cobey has been sentenced to living in the dorms after he had a little too much fun his freshman year and his grades suffered. Cobey never expects his new roommate to not only be brilliant but also so attractive and doesn’t seem to know it. When the two come to a tutoring agreement, sparks fly but can Vincent and Cobey trust what’s developing between them?
Vincent Brandt has built mile high walls around himself to protect his very fragile heart after a childhood of neglect. He is brilliant and allows himself to shine academically and hide out the rest of the time. Cobey doesn’t allow Vincent to hide out and instead helps him find confidence socializing and within himself. When the two get physical Vincent is treated with the utmost respect and is left feeling so safe and comfortable.
Holy shit, Vincent was so freaking adorable. And hot. How could someone be adorable and hot at the same time? Like that didn’t make sense.
Cobey Green is meant for football greatness, if only school didn’t keep getting in the way. He is a friendly guy who is constantly trying to reinforce treating everyone nicely and with the respect they deserve. He takes to Vincent immediately, finding the humor in the quiet man and wanting to get to know him even more. The more Cobey gets to know him the more strongly he feels for him. With their lessons in socializing, getting physical Cobey treasures all the firsts Vincent gifts him and tries to make each moment together special.
Why? Because Cobey goddamn Green was gorgeous. He was cute. He would smile a certain way that sent my stomach into a jittery nosedive. He had one dimple that short-circuited my brain. He talked in a way that was both slow and sweet.
This book was so fluffy and precious. Like most of the FU books it has humor and heat but this one definitely has the least angst which I appreciated. The characters evolved both as individuals and together as a couple. Watching Vincent emerge from behind his books and support Cobey even when it made him uncomfortable showed how much they felt for one another.
4 stars for Vincent and Cobey learning more from each other than they could’ve imagined.

this was so cute and sweet! it had all my favorite tropes: jock/nerd, "oh my god they were roommates", first time trope, & introvert/extrovert

Cringed my way through this one. For the life of me I can’t see what Vincent’s appeal could have possibly been. What a sad sack. And I couldn’t stop imagining he probably smelled like sour milk.
