What I enjoyed most about All Is Fair In Love is its uniqueness.  This romance features several unusual elements.  Poppy is an experienced sea-faring businesswoman.  Poppy is secure in her sensuality and is cheerful and warm.  Francis is a privileged, arrogant man.  Francis is obsessed with making his name in the family business.   He is untried and acts before he thinks, allowing his temper to rule.  Francis and Poppy are opposites, yet they fit perfectly together.  I love how one’s weakness is the other’s strength.  Together they are unstoppable, but Francis and Poppy are too stubborn for their own good.

The physical connection between the couple is electric from the first meeting; animosity turns quickly to heated passion.  I did feel that the physical attraction was mutual; the deeper connection developed unevenly.  One of the main characters fell in love much harder and faster, almost to the point of unrequited love.  However, I must also consider the vast difference in personalities and worldly experiences.  Poppy has been all over the world and has fought for a place in a man’s world where Francis has been given everything.  Although only a few years older, Poppy’s maturity vastly outweighed Francis’ experience.  That is something you don’t read every day in Regency romance.

I enjoyed the back and forth between Francis and Poppy.  The plot was captivating and held my attention.  The story flowed well.  At times all the subterfuge and lies seemed a bit excessive.  But that went back to trust issues, which the couple had in spades!  I did feel this conflict ultimately worked well.

All Is Fair In Love is the tenth book in The Duke Of Strathmore series.  Sasha Cottman has created a lovable, captivating extended family whose stories fascinate and entertain.  These romances are stand-out, and the characters are always unforgettable and unique.  This is yet another stellar romance and kept me eagerly turning the page!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through the author.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.
