I adored the first 80% of this book! It was magical, I devoured it in a whole evening. But that 3rd act ‘issue’ pulled me up short and took me right out of the story. I thought it was a lazy ‘plot twist’, and the resulting mis/lack of communication was extremely frustrating and felt disingenuous.
I have however discovered I enjoy a good trauma bond!

I enjoyed this more than the past couple O’Leary books, and the premise was fun and unique! I enjoyed the chemistry between the MCs, and the stakes were set and maintained throughout the book. However, the third act breakup (if it can be called that) was… so wild.
I have THOUGHTS about how co-dependent Penny and Lexi were!!! Penny got away with a lot of shit and blaming other people for things that ended up majorly affecting Lexi’s relationships with them but… Penny seemingly suffered no consequences when the truth was revealed? Wild!!!

I’d let Connor Swindells read me a phone book. Also, this book was made for audio, would definitely recommend!

This was a heartfelt, high-stakes romance that took the “one-night stand” trope to a whole new level—adrift in the ocean! Zeke and Lexi are total opposites who end up stranded at sea after a miscommunication leaves the houseboat they are on, untethered. With limited supplies and no plan, they’re forced to rely on each other for survival. What starts as panic slowly turns into something deeper as they share secrets, reveal past wounds, and learn to trust—not just each other, but themselves. Beth O’Leary masterfully blends romance, grief, and self-discovery with tension and humor. I loved the dual POVs and the audiobook narration by Connor Swindells and Rebekah Hinds made it all the more immersive. This is more than just a love story—it's about letting go, holding on, and finding your anchor.
