There are two couples in this book. One couple annoys the shit out of me, the other couple is one of my favorites to date. Sixty year old great grandma getting her groove back! Lots of fucking in the dirt and on rugs.

Abusive mom, whiny woman, finding your true love but ope he’s not your fated mate, peril, sexist power imbalance.

Not sure when I read this just know it was this year. So date is wrong.
there will be spoilers after this.

When I read the description I expected this to be Gabrielle and Gary's book. I wrote a pre-review that I was excited to read it and that they were going to get to be together. A rude female decided to tear me a new one that it wasn't their book. thank you so much and I hope someone returns the favor for the next book you're looking forward to reading. Snarky attitude aside, I was hoping they would be together but it was kind of obvious after a point that they wouldn't be. I would not be a good partner to her lifemate but I'm happy it worked out for her. I loved Trixie's relationship. I'm glad they were able to help the ancients.

3.25. not my cup of tea but pretty good story with two couples finding love. Did a lot of skimming since like others have mentioned, this story was more sex than plot. I loved the scenes but it lacked something that has always made Feehan's stories loveable to me. Looking forward to the next story though

Firsts of all, Damn! Christine sure knows how to shake it up. There are 2 couples in this one and both are a bit shocking. This might be a bit spoilerish but Gabby doesn't end up with Gary. I think it was for the best. Gabby is weak and indecisive, and I could barely stand her. I have to say though that I'm more passed at her brother and sister and yes, even Mikhail! How to you convert a person and not show her what it's like to be Carpathian! WTF! Aleksae had my sympathies from the firts6, so did Gary. Faneuil and Trixie were cute together and I wish we saw more of them.
I loved how we saw a bit of good for the Ancients. They deserve to have their honor rewarded.

How did I miss this one?

How did I miss this one? I think it was because of the characters. We've seen Gary and Gabby together since we met them only to find out they were not lifemates. The first chapters were brutal, so much angst and heartbreak. The following were filled with learning and redemption. And lastly, I think this is the last book set in the Carpathian mountains. We met the ancients and how they make their why to find their lifemates around the world. I loved it! Specially Alexsei, he was old school and a second away from beating his chest as a form of communication. Gabrielle has been always a favorite of mine! We also meet Fane, another ancient and his lifemate, Trixie who happens to be Teagan's (MFC in the previous book) grandmother. That was fun to read! Yeah, loved this one!

Fair warning ... this book is approximately 80% intimate scenes/20% story driven.

Granted ... there are always a LOT of sex scenes in this series. With each book the ratio seems to decrease in story line though, which is a shame. What story line is included does drive this series forward a bit.

I really miss the meaty storylines with action and intrigue ... it makes the intimate scenes pack more punch. 80% of the book gets old pretty fast when there's not much storyline driving them.

Having said that ... I really like the ancients at the monastery. It will be interesting to see how their search for lifemates go.

I read this series because I am waiting to find out how they will revive their species. No other reason. I am bored of the pairings. I know that vampires are like pests-they are always there. However, the beginning of the series was about an endangered race struggling to survive so I am waiting until they are no longer 'struggling' to survive so I can stop reading these books.
