4.5 ⭐️’s. I am an absolute fool for anything remotely Arthurian related, and I am absolutely cuffed that my friend Kitty recommend this book otherwise, I never would’ve known it existed. I really love the authors easy voice, it’s like listening to a friend tell you a story. The writing style is very friendly and comforting. The characters are immediately very likable, even when they’re being absolute shits to each other. It’s an enjoyable journey to take as their feelings for each other progress from animosity, to resignation, to finally what can only amount to true friendship and love. You really get to see the characters grow in maturity, and become better people as a result of the events in the story. There were many laugh-out-loud moments and I made note of quite a few hilarious quotes. I also liked that it was more than just a love story and about the struggles, gay or straight, one faces when having to be vulnerable with another person, but that it also had action, subterfuge, defeat, and uncertainty. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading the authors other works in the future.

This book was so cute and sweet and also heartbreaking and lovely. Some moments of brutality and war. Lots of silliness and secrets and hijinx.

wow, I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I absolutely devoured (consumed isn't a strong enough word) this book. not to mention—this is the author's debut?? what an astounding first impression to make, truly. a wonderful depiction of mlm & wlw solidarity in old england. LOVED this book. can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy to add to my personal library!
