This book is a very realistic portrayal of domestic violence and the reasons so many people stay with their abuser.

Vowed to read 1 CoHo book in ifs entirety to affirm the suspicion that it wasn't for me. Worst thing I've ever read. Predictable and problematic with an air of trying desperately to "educate" readers. Also the mc is a florist who is called lily bloom.... eye roll. Mentioning the ridiculousness of that name in the book doesn't make it less ridiculous that its in the book. Nah. Nope. Not for me. Do not get the hype at all.

Almost DNF'd due to DV, but glad I came back when I was in a better mind space. Having a hard time rating but this was my own mental state more than the book itself.

Anyone who shares "Oh, she's Colleen Hover's reader" narrative has obviously never read one of her books. I've stayed away from this series for a while thanks to these silly, naive, light romance novels.

Nothing could be more wrong.

Hover is an incredible writer who understands her characters and the DV victim's thought processes. It is not so clean of a narrative that the abused way can walk away, and there are no complicated feelings. That the abused didn't love the abuser.
