Despite what the author may claim in the foreword, this book is a "history" of White Feminism and American propaganda. In other words, it's surface level and racist as hell.

Despite the language of their oppression being co-opted at every opportunity, BIPOC are rarely mentioned throughout the book. When BIPOC are mentioned, it is to serve one of two purposes, depending on their gender:
- Non-white men, of course, are the most violent of oppressors
- Non-white women show up as voices of wisdom to support whatever actions the white femme is taking at that moment.

The "history" isn't well researched either. Off the top of my head, I recall a whole bit about chastity belts, the use of which has been debunked. Of course, as a particularly cruel "invention," their creation was attributed to MENA men.

To sum up, if you say things like, "We are the daughters of the witches you didn't burn," or still wear your pussy hat with pride, you'll like this book. For everybody else, skip it.

Was kind of disjointed, wasn’t sure of the central argument, and I didn’t feel like I was learning the things about women in history that I wanted to

Informative, critical, work on an important topic. As much as I admire the book, it was a difficult read because of the intense violence, oppression, and dismal treatment of women it reports on.

Informative, but I found myself getting lost in the quick switches between stories and anecdotes. The preface was awful and should be removed. It didn't reflect well on the rest of the book.
