This book was good, honestly it was over far too quickly for me. We were able to dig deeper into the mysterious world of the Leafwings while building on the world of Pantala.
Now I just had one problem. Sundew's character. She just felt different from the Sundew I knew from the previous books. The way she felt about her friends and other characters just felt odd as did how she expressed her relationship with Willow.
I did enjoy getting to know Sundew better, even if the characterization felt a bit weird. The whole series seems to be coming together in an endgame that I'm just SOOOO excited for. I CANNOT wait for the fourteenth book.
Speaking of, I just loved how Tui T. Sutherland branched out. Sometimes when other authors branch out with new characters while using old characters in practically new worlds I just hate it, but Sutherland does it so well it's just impossible not to love. I'm glad, because if I didn't enjoy this branching out in Pantala I'm pretty sure the entire series would have been completely ruined for me.
I just wish I had the fourteenth book in my hands now.

Honestly this book was not the best in terms of plot but having an explicitly lesbian protagonist in my favorite childhood book series healed a wound I did not know I had. 10/10 from my inner child.
Tui T. Sutherland is one of the most amazing writers I have ever read. The 13th book of the series feel fresh and interesting as always.
Blue, cricket, sundew and bumblebee get to the the poison jungle, where the leafwing dragons hide. War is coming. Our heroes discover a shocking secret, and again we end in a cliffhanger.
Can't wait for the next one!
I did a re-read because I finally got the 14th book, and didn't really remember what happened. I kept thinking that it can't be as good as I thought it was, but I was wrong. It's great. I love the fact that although Tsunami and Sundew are similar, they are also so different. I love that even though, halfway through the book I remembered the big plot twist, I was still worried. Sutherland writes compelling stories with dragons as the main characters and she does it so well.
