The taboo of the relationship wasn't supported by any character development that made me think what they were doing was okay. The author just kept writing the same scene over and over. She completely skipped the part where they became friends first.
I've enjoyed Naima Simone's books in the past but this was a bit disappointing. There was plenty of sexy times which was fine, but it felt like that came at the expense of actual character development and plot because I found myself skimming a lot of it. I get it, they each had a lot of angst and guilt because she's his brother's widow but it felt very one note to me.

First off, let me say that this is my fault, I failed to see that this book was labelled as erotica (okay I just saw that gorgeous cover and hit the request button so hard I damaged my finger!).
Knox used to be a famous MMA fighter until the day his younger brother Connor died after a fight. Now he owns a tattoo parlour and employs his sister-in-law, Connor's widow, Eden as a receptionist. Eden is everything he isn't: clean; pure; perfect, and he has lusted after her since the first moment he saw her.
Eden loved Connor but he has been dead for a while now and she needs to move on with her life, she wants to start by moving out of her mother-in-law's house. She also has started to have lustful thoughts for her brother-in-law but the only time she even sort-of made a move he shut her down and leapt away as though he'd been scalded, but nevertheless he's been there for her.
This was typical NA/YA fare. Lots of plump lip biting, swearing, tattoos, angst-angst-angst etc. Also lots of push-me, pull-me back and forth between wanting each other and feeling inadequate.
Disir is someone whose reviews I trust (don't always necessarily agree with), she wrote a brilliant review here and I think it sums up my feelings far more eloquently than I can. Having read that the rest of the book was more of the same I decided to bail.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

TW: Death of a loved one
This story follows Knox who is an Ex-MMA fighter and has been in lust with his dead brother’s wife, Eden Gordon. This was a really quick read I was expecting it to be more forbidden and emotional than it actually was. I'm really excited to continue on in this series.
Knox craves his sister-in-law like a drug addict craves his/her next hit. It's wrong and it’s not good for him, but it doesn't stop desire from seizing him and taking him by the throat every time Eden is in the room.
His MMA fighting days are behind him, but what he no longer fights physically, like men in the ring--he fights mentally: like his guilt and the love he harbors for his brother’s widow.
Knox’s mental tug of war results in a novel heavy in angst and blame--that later cocoons into love and forgiveness.
Eden was married to Knox's brother Connor, who died from a brain aneurysm two years prior. But Knox has been in love with her since the moment he saw her five years ago--only Connor met her first.
I loved the two together. I like the way Eden stood up for Knox mother at a family dinner. Knox's guilt for the death of his brother is a lot to take in when in reality it is not his fault at all. Guilt can really harm someone.

"We shouldn't do this!"
" can't help ourselves, here we go! [Hot Hot Hot] "
" Now we both feel so guilty! Argh! "
Repeat over and over. It was almost like a parody, it was so overwrought. The Audible version just made me laugh out loud...for the wrong reasons. I kept waiting for a real plot to develop but it never did.

Holly Mother of Smut!
This book was hot hot hot
I mean... a lot of the romance books I read have sex and smut and all that. But Sin and Ink was off the charts hot. This is definitely erotica so make sure you comfortable with that before diving in.
