Hand me my fan!!!!

Have you ever read the first page of a book and then decided you’re going to put all of the rest of your books down and give all of your attention to this one? That’s how I felt when I read the first page of this book. Everything else that I was listening to, everything else that I was reading, went to the wayside. Wow! This book became number one in my life.

I seriously need to know where the sixth star is on these review ratings because this book gets five stars plus a bonus star. The smutty goodness starts very early on in this book and is very well done. And, you get a really good love story as well; A forbidden love story.

Knox is a sexy, tatted up former MMA fighter. Eden is his dead brother’s widow. And, he’s responsible for his brother’s death.

I like the fact that we see that these two characters have history. I am a stickler for being able to see where the characters were and how they got to where they are now. Naima Simone did a fantastic job with that. We understand how these two met. We understand how they felt, so we can understand how they now feel.

I was all in for this romance. It ticked off all the boxes for a good read. Thank you Ms. Simone!

Deliciously complicated

Sin and Ink is the aftermath of an explosion. You see the wreckage. You see the blood everywhere. You know something irreversible happened. You know there was loss. But while you clean up the wreckage, you notice a flower that has bloomed even under the debris fighting through discarded metal, ash, and unrecognizable things to reach sunlight. You botice the sun still rises and sets. You notice that children are playing in the street a block over. You notice that life keeps going. Sin and Ink is proof that even when an explosion rocks your world, it doesn't have to end it.

I'm not going to lie and say that this cover wasn't what made me stop, wipe the drool, and then read the blurb. As much as I don't believe in judging a book by its cover, sometimes the cover is a physical representation of the book. The sexy, brooding man with the edge of darkness is KNOX to a K (come on, even you admit to a T doesn't make sense in this case! His name is Knox!) The visceral response to the cover model is almost pavlovian. I want to simultaneously climb him like a spider monkey and hug him for all eternity (if i can hug him with more than just my arms...*lecherous winky face*). Knox is a fighter, a survivor, and the epitome of perfection. Even in his brokenness, he is swoon worthy. He is family, loyalty, and love personified. I know I fall for heroes easily (being a bookwhore and all) but Knox made insta-love an unintentional decision. No mistakes. No take backs. I fell hard and fast and I never want to take it back.

Is it complicated? Holy shit, its complicated but life isn't easy. Love isn't easy...and Happily Ever After takes work. Knox and Eden find theirs in a smile inducing, heart eyes popping, so stupid happy for them way.

me arrepiento

There were parts of this that I utterly LOVED. But the overall story felt.... unfinished.

The massive conflict between Knox and his mom is left unresolved. I wanted to see how Knox's mom responded to his relationship with Eden when confronted with the two of them in front of her. How does the rest of the family move forward with her treatment of Knox? How does Knox continue healing now that he's talking to someone about his sleeping problems?

I also really wished there was a scene where Knox's brothers showed they supported his relationship with Eden. The whole story he believes he'll lose his entire family because of his feelings for her. And then we learn his brothers support it! I would have just loved him to feel their love and support too.

Wow! What a story. This was a first for me from this author, and I was sucked into the story right from the start! I really loved Knox and Eden together. I understand the whole "taboo" aspect of it, but I was really disappointed with the way Knox's mother treated him. The situation wasn't his fault, Connor was a grown man who made his own choices. To make your other son feel the way she did was inexcusable in my opinion. Knox had so much guilt heaped on him, that 2 years later he was still under the weight of it. Eden was good for Knox, and I think that they helped each other move on with their lives. I would have liked an epilogue. I would love to know how they are doing a little further down the line. I'm hoping the brother's stories won't be too far off, and I can get my update from those!
I voluntarliy reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

It was nice to meet again with Knox and Eden but it didn't reach the intensity I've got during my first read (so it lost a star). Sadly for this author I've discovered an other Simone (Sierra) and the level of heartbreaking characters facing complex and heavy obstacles on their way to happiness is something else all together.
Maybe if the book would have been a bit longer. I would have love to know more about Knox's brothers. The taboo wasn't really one for me.
On the plus side the double narrator's for the audio was nice. I wish it was done more often. And I forgot how the pinning, the angst and the sex were really hot in this book.

I’m sure this was a great read for others but not for me yikes.

No matter how hard I tried to force myself to read through and try and enjoy it I just couldn’t and felt like it was a waste of time. So yes this is probably the only book I’m gonna DNF this year ugh.

I just couldn’t get over the fact that her husband just died and she hasn’t been any other relationship before swooning over her brother -in law himself . I know this is supposed to be the main plot but I guess I was expecting a hesitant female lead with head over heel male lead.

But the fact that the female lead is the first one to initiate all sexual interactions, when the male lead is clearly trying so hard to keep his hands off her even though he’s madly in love with her, makes her come off as a plain desperate woman and the fact that she hasn’t had sex with anyone after her husband died makes it worse. And I JUST SIMPLY CANT BEAR A DESPERATE WOMAN. Ugh

So yeah that’s pretty much it. Bye.

DNF 13%

Sin & Ink is a forbidden, taboo and super hot story that I simply adored. It features a tortured, grumpy, man-bun wearing, bearded hero *cue swooning* and a sweet with a bit of bite heroine. I enjoyed their journey and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
