This serious was such an unexpected delight. More Kraken involved, tears were shed, laughs were had, overall just a gem of a series.

My expectations were low - I had loved the first book in this series but the second fell flat for me. However, this book exceeded my expectations and I felt that it wrapped up the story nicely. I still don't feel that the enjoyment I had from reading the first book was maintained through the series but I was happy to have read it.

I can’t make another 8 hours. I just can’t.
Content warnings for ‘this is not how domestic abuse works’ and the worst plotline in the world aka ‘if you’d communicated like adult people using their mouth words… or in this case, eyes, then none of this would have happened’. This is just drivel at this point. Fin is sent to the land of the evil baddies because nobody including the author understands how to write a political plot. There’s this weird assumption that being married will resolve things, rather than everyone saying ‘so what, we don’t care because that’s irrelevant’. Fin has to write a daily letter home, on a ship, which arrives immediately and… I can’t go on. Throw me to the seas, I’m done with this series.
Rumours that getting better and not having a fever, a broken bone, a sick cat and a UTI may have dramatically affected my ability to tolerate this series should not be understated.
