Volume 3 was a bit different from the rest as it tackles more serious topics in the conclusion of this trilogy. There's drama, unexpected twists, death, and the culmination of the war that Troivack has been planning against Daxaria for the past 2 volumes.

The absolute MVP of this book is Kraken the cat, no doubt about it. Doesn't everyone need a familiar who's a part of cat mob? Oh yeah and Fin does a bunch of stuff too.

On a more serious note, this was such a great ending to the trilogy. Most narrative lines were tied up in a really satisfying way and I was happy with the several epilogues it took to achieve that.

Looking forward to the spin-offs, I can't get enough of this universe!

I really did enjoy this series but what started as very low stakes took a turn in this one. I mean there is a war on the way so it’s not shocking but all the deaths in this book were shocking!

We do get a lovely HEA but it was hard won. I kind of want to read the fourth book but the reviews aren’t great and I’m not sure I want to dedicate time to it right now. I would like to see what all the characters got up to over a 20 year period though!

Although the final installment of this trilogy was not as cringe as the second, I found that the story dragged. While there was some tension, it was resolved in a predictable way. I’m a bit let down after enjoying the first book. Delemhach’s style just isn’t for me.

Ahh, this trilogy is my favorite story I read this year! I felt so much a part of their world, which is the feeling I chase with reading - being engrossed. The perfect balance of warm cozy fantasy with enough plot to keep me engaged, without getting weighed down by too much world building (that has a tendency to overwhelm me). Perfect book for meeee!

If you enjoyed the BBC show Merlin, then you’ll love this series. These books quickly became one of my all time favorites.
