Q: What do you get if you mix the movie SAW with the book ROOM?
A: This book !

This story was a mindfuck and I loved every minute of it. It was violent and creepy and all out disturbing, this is not your mama's kidnapping story. What does it say about me that I read the whole thing in one night, staying up until five o'clock in the morning to do so? I have such a book hangover right now and I REGRET NOTHING!

This is a well thought out psychological thriller that blew me away, Sara Ennis has such a creepy imagination and I am here for it! Apparently there is a prequel to Arthur's story so I am going to ask the author for it. Cross your fingers for me. Also, there is a book two coming out to see what happens to Angel in the aftermath. I am looking forward to that too. needless to say, Ms. Ennis certainly has a new fan in this gal.

This story is about a group of children who are kidnapped by a man called Alfred, who is using them as dolls to try and recreate photographs from key moments in his past.

This is no normal kidnapping story. This was on a whole other level. It is so dark and at some points, outright terrifying.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat from page 1. This story was so dark and twisted. I honestly wanted to jump into the book and protect the kids from Alfred and his horrible, twisted games.

The development of each character was fantastic. I won't go into detail for fear of spoilers, but it was done beautifully. The characters were so diverse and unique.

For anyone looking for a dark thriller, look no further.

Thank you to Sara & Alicia for gifting me a physical copy as well as an ebook via NetGalley!

This is a creepy psychological thriller of a psychopath who kidnaps children (especially teenagers) across states and puts them in a house basement to live out his childhood traumas. Although the book is marketed as a psychological thriller, the abuse is quite extreme like what you’d find in horror books. If you’re a horror reader, you’re good but if you read only thrillers and avoid horror elements like the plague, message me or anyone who has read the book for triggers. I also do not want to add much more because you gotta go in as blind as possible.

With that out of the way, I will say I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book. The book is full blown action-packed and comes in short chapters that I’m finding holds my attention a lot more. And speaking of attention, if you’re starting to read this book, make sure to free up your calendar from any work or other activities. Ignore your other half, friend, kids, neighbor, manicurist, grocer, football games etc. because this book sucks in your attention right away and you aren’t going to get much else done till you reach the end. You can thank me later for this little piece of advice.

Speaking of the end, this book is actually the first of a sequel and I want to thank the author with a big bouquet of flowers (if flowers are her thing), to NOT leave us readers hanging with a painful cliffhanger that so many books series do. You could easily read this book alone and be done, although I highly doubt you’ll stop with this one. I’m glad Sara Ennis’ books came on my radar and I can’t wait for her next one soon!

This book is absolutely riveting! An unputdownable thriller, The Dollhouse keeps the reader on their toes.
Angel, Bud, and Olivia were absolute heroes! Excellent writing, promising characters and a good pace make this book a hit.

If you are a fan of Criminal Minds, you will 100% be into this book. It's dark, twisty, and downright thrilling. Emphasis on the dark... The Dollhouse is not for the faint of heart. There were a couple twists I definitely didn't see coming and overall I thought this was a really great book. It did ultimately lose me a little bit in the end, hence four stars instead of five.

**I received a Kindle edition of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review**

Trigger warning - child abuse/torture

Angel and Bud are twins growing up with a distracted mother and father in prison. When their mother leaves them alone for the weekend they are kidnapped and brought to a place their captives call "The Dollhouse". While there they are forced to re-enact pictures from a photo album, along with another kidnapped girl. As they make their way through the photo album, and their captives start to become angrier and angrier, they start to wonder what will happen when the photos in the album turn out.

I'll admit to reading this one pretty blind. I saw it a lot on my Instagram page and thought I would give it a shot. I didn't realize the whole book would basically be about children being tortured - mentally and physically. This isn't my type of book. I like thrillers and it takes a lot to bother me, but animals and children are pretty much where I draw the line. If this type of thing doesn't bother you then you would enjoy this. I've seen comparisons to the movie Saw, which I agree with. I just felt like the author went a little far and it was too much for me. Adding in the student/school connection just felt like another way to add some more violence and shock value to the story and wasn't necessary.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC
