A typical abduction and keep story with a couple of plot twists. The characters kept you interested even though the story dragged a little. I was on the edge of my seat at the end as the author did a good job of expressing the urgency of the situation. I'm curious to see where the next book takes us. Thanks to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest feedback.

This book has multiple character POV’s but is done in third person.

Honestly, I was incredibly nervous, because I had started a book with a similar title and synopsis and it very quickly became a DNF for me – in fact, I only managed to get 6% into the book before giving it up.

This book, however, was well executed. I am so thankful for that!

We meet a lot of characters along the way, and some definitely aren’t who you think they are – again, something done well by the author.

Honestly, I have to give this five feathers, because I couldn’t put it down once I started, and because it did what the other book couldn’t.

One thing I would like to mention, is that there are definitely some errors within the book. Extra words (in one spot “the the” is left in this copy) and minor grammatical oversights. It didn’t stop me from enjoying the book, though. I hope these were fixed before release!

Tried to finish this, but the writing style just wasn't my thing. Not a huge fan; essentially, it's style made me think of a Y/A novel trying to be edgy enough for adults, and it just distracted from the story for me.

Thank you to NetGalley, who provided this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I was really drawn in by the premise of this story, as it sounded along the same vein as my favorite crime shows like Criminal Minds and Mind Hunter. The characters were dynamic and the plot kept me on my toes.

That being said, the writing style employed by the author is not my favorite, particularly the dialogue involving the younger characters. At times it sounded forced and the jargon uncharacteristic to how teenagers actually talk. Additionally, the prose switches between stunted sentences and long, whimsical lines.

Overall, this book is a 3.5/5 stars.
