Actual lines from this book:

“Special shout-out to my Ariel mermaid, who presides over the shabby chic flower power pillow on my bed—love you, girl!” —lily

“I held up the muppet. ‘I christen thee Snarly’ I told it. I handed Snarly over to the guy named Boomer. ‘Please give this to He of the Unknowable Name.’” —lily

“There was something just so…dashing about young Dashiell. It wasn’t the fedora he was wearing or how nicely his blue shirt complemented his deep blue eyes” —lily

“I assure you, that while I believe gay sex to be a beautiful, joyful thing, I do not think that I myself would find it particularly joyful, and this my reading about its joys was all part of a greater pursuit.” —Dash

“‘Since when do you have an arch expression?’ I asked. ‘There is a certain feistiness in your voice, too, that heretofore has not been present.’” —Dash

“It’s not as if I’ve come to take her to the sock hop, or ask her to go double-spooning in some tapioca, if that’s what you mean. We’ve already established my position on dillying and dallying, which right now is chaste with a chance for inveterate lust, depending on the ripeness of our first interactions.”

Sweet, merciful Lord, what a rancid little book! I should have gouged my eyes out in order to spare myself the pain of having to read even another line of Dash & Lily. How cringe!! Lily is written like a mentally handicapped 6-year-old and Dash is written like a pretentious 50-year-old pervert who has been kept in solitary confinement with only a few books from the 1800s to keep him company. Of COURSE he wears a fedora. He reeks suspiciously of incel. I despised this book. This book is an example of why adults avoid YA, which is such a bummer bc there is so much good YA out there to be had. Please do yourself a favor and avoid Cohn and Levithan at all costs. Read Shusterman or A.S. King instead.

I liked the idea of the story and the plot, but wasn't a huge fan of the story switching between Lily and Dash's and having to catch back up to what was presently happening with the other person. I will say that I liked this book enough that I'm going to read The Twelve Days of Dash & Lily next!

Such a cute holiday read!! Forreal read this for the Netflix show, but so glad I did now! A quick, easy read, and so fun!
medium-paced

I would have liked this a whole lot better if the characters talked like real sixteen year olds. I'm sure their SAT vocabulary scores were through the roof!
emotional funny lighthearted fast-paced

Even though I normally don't like books about teenagers, I really like this. I needed something easy and fun to read and this was that. Super cute and festive. Only a little cheesy at times but that's to be expected.

Cute YA love story.

Aaaaw. Would've been better if I'd catch in on Christmas, though. Remember that for the next time!
