lighthearted medium-paced

I borrowed this book from a buddy because I was charmed by the show--and in the end, the show felt more detailed and cohesive than the book! You gotta believe me: I rarely say that. The framework of the plot is fun, but the details Cohn and Leviathan fill it with seem trivial and sometimes contradictory. Their writing partnership is fun, but this felt like a first draft that needed finessing. I'm a little surprised an editor didn't catch some of the inconsistencies. At one point, Lily announces she's a big Harry Potter fan and then continually refers to "Hermione Potter." Nobody caught this? It's sloppy!!!

ANYWAY after this pan, I would maybe read more of these. We all contain multitudes, baby!!!

2.5*

I read this book when it first came out because I was a huge fan of Rachel Cohn as a teenager. I remember it being not very good back then, but 11 years and one long-distance relationship later, I found it charming and relatable.

I took a month to read this because of work and having little time, and it was on my iPad so it wasn’t as easy to pick up as a physical book. I loved the humour and the way it was written. The characters felt similar yet individually unique too which was something I’ve not had in a book in a while. 3/5

Super cute holiday book!

The nonsense arrest gave this an extra star

Loved it! Definitely a cute Christmas read

It was fun to read this but that whole "in the park with Dash and being accused of child snatching" scene was ridiculous. It took me out of the story a bit. Still I will be reading the next book in this series.
