This was the second time I read Dash&Lily's Book of dares and I'm still loving it. There's just something so adorable about this book that it became some kind of my guilty pleasure. I just absolutely love it. Sorry, I'm not sorry.
I almost stopped reading this after a few chapters because the Dash chapters just seemed so pretentious and obnoxious. But I'm glad I stuck with it because I really liked Lily and the story was pretty good. There was even a good section towards the end where I could not stop laughing out loud. Makes me wish it was Christmas!

I've never laughed so much while reading a book. I was in the middle of precalculus class and burst out laughing so much that I had to excuse myself. The situations that happen in this book are really hilarious and you'd never think they'd actually happen. The main characters are so lovable and amazing, that they earn a special place in your heart after reading it. ^.^
This was the November pick for my Forever YA book club, and while it was cute, I was a little disappointed. I feel like there’s been a lot of hype for this book, but to me, it was a typical YA romance story.
Don’t get me wrong…. there were some good things about this one, and I enjoyed it overall. For instance, I loved the setting in New York City, I loved the unique way their romance developed via hidden notes and scavenger hunts, I loved the general Christmas feel. The characters were like-able too, even if their situations were not quite believable. For the most part though, I didn’t find it to be overly engaging. I also noted that it was slightly outdated (even though it’s only from 2010). As a long time fan of YA, I’ve noticed that some of it trends to YOUNGER young adults, while some of it is veered more toward older teens, young adults, and adults. I would say this one veers on the younger side, which may have hindered my enjoyment a bit too because, ya know, I’m 30 now and all.
I’d say if you’re looking for a quick Christmas read, give this one a go. It was definitely sweet and festive, but it just wasn’t a favorite for me.

Genuinely such a fun and cute read. As a person who loves catcher in the rye and J.D Salinger I really felt it in the writing. Both Dash and Lily have such awesome voices and have such interesting lives and backstory to them. The love aspect is so little touch but so much through words. As a person who loves reading it was a book I could connect with as a young person. My favorite part would be the end when the kiss and have to trying it again and also stop because Dash is too tired. I perfectly represents who they are as a couple.

This book was on my book shelf for so long that I don’t even remember buying it, & I don’t even usually read this type of genre, which is another good indicator that I’m not the same person who probably bought this book years & years ago. Nonetheless, I still read it, just to be able to get it off of my book shelf & donate it to a Little Free Library, & sure enough, I didn’t like it because I knew that it would be a corny ass coming-of-age story.
