Well, this will be interesting, especially if these two end up together...

Julie and Derek were two of my favorite characters from the Kate Daniel's books. This in expensive novella was a fun foll0w-on.

*Not a romance although if the authors continue with this pairing it could become one.

Oh how I wish this was a full length book! Julie and Derek! This is a short story that takes place in the Kate Daniels world with all the expected snark and adventure. We finally get to be in Derek's head a little and I hope it means what I think. Overall, a good story

Really good. Just too short. I am looking forward to seeing more of Derek and Julie.

I loved it! I really enjoyed Derek’s POV and Julie has turned into quite the warrior woman. They work great as a team and this book has made me want more!! Please write more dear authorlords!!

This was enjoyable but not the greatest novella I've read by them. I liked the premise, and I rather like the idea of the younger generation--the characters who are beloved by readers but little more than sidekicks in the Kate Daniels books--getting their own adventures and character arcs.

The novella is told in third-person limited, and so while we get to see Derek's admiration for Julie, she's really the highlight of the story and I would have much rather read her version. His seemed sort of flat at times.

That being said, I read this all at once and enjoyed it. I don't regret paying money for it.
