This book was better than I anticipated. Growing up, I watched Jinger on tv and then followed her journey on Instagram. I didn’t grow up under Gothard’s teachings, but the school I attended had a lot of the same beliefs. I really resonated with her journey from a legalistic faith to disentangling and truly following and trusting Christ.

I knew going into this it wasn’t a tell all exclusive, but I didn’t realise I would feel like I was reading the whole bible. Jinger puts forward some interesting perspectives into the cult of Bill Gothard, and how she was tricked into believing things that just aren’t true and don’t appear in the bible.

I wish she made mention of what her family thinks / follows now - but I’m sure she’d say “that’s not her story to tell”
