Thought I was going to find this average but easy to get through but I just thought it wasn’t a very good book and I really had to push myself through it! The ending wasn’t that satisfying and I just didn’t care what happened really.

I REALLY hope that all the opinions/ views in the book are not Kate’s own but just feels odd to have deep rooted sexist/ xenophobic/ homophobic views in almost all the characters.

Not arsed about finishing this series 😂

Kate Atkinson spins such complex tales. The coincidences on this one strain credulity. But good characters and fun read.

This really was meh on every metric.
Some of the characters (Martin and Gloria) were interesting and I always enjoyed their POVs and perhaps a book from just their perspectives could have been good. But Jackson is just a toe and it makes absolutely no sense that Louise fancies him.
The entire book is splattered with tired and offensive stereotypes and Atkinson is clearly an unpleasant women with backward views who I would never want to meet.
The plot wasn't particularly engaging and at no point did I really care about anything. The conclusions were then not very clever or surprising - Gloria wanted Graham dead, like okay?
I will read the next one if you want me to Weasel but god was it giving nothing.

I loved reading this book! It was filled with deep character development (very similar to Case Histories), and lots of humor as Atkinson weaves the lives of all of the characters into and out of each other’s lives. I can’t wait to read the third in the series!
