this has to be the single worst piece of writing i have ever read i fully get why fielding read it and immediately had to write shamela. not even its time period or historical importance could save it for me from start to finish this was pure suffering i mourn the time lost spent reading it

Had to read this for class. Important novel for history but horrible “lessons”. A teenage girl must resist the “temptation” of being raped by her master. Because she didn’t give in to being raped, she is rewarded. YUCK!
