"I Can Be a Better You" by Tarryn Fisher offers a chilling exploration of Fig Coxbury's psyche, blending elements of psychopathy and sociopathy. The narrative is a dark journey into obsession, with Fig's unsettling desires driving her actions. The gripping storyline and the examination of complex human relationships make this psychological thriller a compelling read, filled with suspense and tension. Fisher skillfully crafts a tale that leaves readers questioning the boundaries of identity and morality.

Last sentence was a slay. I felt like this book was too close to home, only someone who’s experienced this shit knows. Props to you Tarryn, thank you for being vulnerable enough to share your story in such a compelling way.

I’d give this 3.5 stars. The build up was great and the ending fell short. I was excited about this book. I just had to know the ending, but the ending was just ugh. I wanted so much more. All of the characters were freaking crazy. I’d still recommend this book.

Best Psychopath I have read since Joe in You by Caroline Kepnes. This was a great thriller told from e different POV's. I will definitely be checking out more Tarryn Fisher. I have The Wives on my owned TBR shelf!

I was just "good", but it had the potential to be so much more. The issue is the scattered storyline, it jumps ship to a new direction every few chapters and rather than being clever, it comes off like the Author continuously changed her mind about what the story actually was.

What happened to the Bad Mommy angle? We get the obsession with Mercy shoved down our throats for the first few chapters and then it is a forgotten whisper in the wind, barely to be seen or heard from until the last 30 pages.

A little disappointing as I loved the characters and the development of the backstory. Some discoveries were shocking and I was genuinely interested in what was unfolding before us. It became a sordid love affair and hardly a thriller.

Lastly- explain the George storyline! Fig says they're divorced, speaks of him in the past tense, he is never seen or heard from in the first 2/3 of the book, no hints that he actually might still be in the picture and all of a sudden there are references to a double date with the reader having no idea who the hell Fig was taking on this date, and no scene of the date taking place. Then, Jolenes storyline was George-centric.. It didn't make any sense.

I wanted to love it, it had such good bones.

I struggle with rating this book. I struggled with part one because the main character is CRAY. Part two drew me and my three I was hooked. Oh my dear goodness. Fig. Darius. Jolene. Mercy. Mercy. Me. I’m glad I stuck out this book finished it. Definitely an interesting read, can’t wait to discuss it with my book club!

...okay. I need a few moments to process the absolute craziness of the last 300 pages I've read. There's something about Tarryn Fisher's books that make me start to feel a little crazy. The characters in this book were so messed up and completely psychotic...that I started to wonder if maybe, possibly, I'm the one who is psychotic. The book is split up into three parts (1) The Psychopath, (2) The Sociopath, and (3) The Writer. When the book starts, you're hit with the craziness that is Fig Coxbury. From the description of the book, I knew that Fig would be this nutso character. At the beginning, I thought that Fig had latched onto this perfect family...but you soon realize that the husband, Darius, is just as crazy as Fig is! And seeing into his head in part 2...was terrifying. Thankfully, Tarryn provides us with a little relief in the final part in which we are able to see inside Jolene's mind...which is a walk in the park compared to the other two. But then...the last paragraph of this book left me with chills everywhere. I had to go back and read it a few times and I got chills. Every. Single. Time. If you're looking for a mindboggling book...this is it. My mind is still reeling.
