The good: I enjoyed the plus-sized representation in this book and loved April's confidence! I enjoyed that April and Marcus were older than your standard romance book protagonists. Overall, they had great chemistry, and I loved seeing Marcus support April. I also loved the dual POV storytelling - I felt like that helped me understand both characters a lot more!
The bad: As someone who isn’t into fan fiction, I found the heavy emphasis on it a bit overwhelming. The book sometimes read like it was fan fiction for Game of Thrones or some similar show. If you are in the fan fiction or cosplay world, you might connect with the book more than I did. I was frustrated with the "I can't tell you my big secret" bit. JUST TELL HER AND MOVE ON!! Additionally, April and Marcus exhibited a strong lack of communication with each other and their families. They were acting far too young and emotionally immature for their ages.
It wasn't my favorite book, and I wouldn't read it again, but if you are into fan fiction or cosplay, you might enjoy this book!

I FEEL TERRIBLE SAYING THIS, because some of the paragraphs featured in this book genuinely healed something in me as a overweight woman, but those paragraphs aren’t enough to safe how… awkward the rest of the book is.
I LOVE THE REPRESENTATION OF PLUS SIZE WOMEN!!!!!!! THATS AWESOME!!!!! And the side plot with the mom who clearly has an ed was absolutely gut wrenching to read about a few times, so kudos to that. That was genuinely good.
This would have rocked as a fanfic (which is kinda ironic and a little bit funny actually), but the fact that this is a published work featuring characters in their almost fourties' speaking like tumblr teenagers is just… it’s not good. It feels a little bit cringy???
ALSO THE WHOLE THING WITH THE ACTOR OBSESSED WITH PEGGING AND THE OTHER CHARACTER OBSESSED WITH TUNA MADE ME WANT TO SCRATCH MY EYE BALLS OUT. That was actually Wattpad worthy. I did. laugh a few times throughout this book for the right reasons, but THOSE certain plot points? They felt cheap. Like they were made by a 14 year old on Wattpad…
This has officially given me the ick for fanfics. I cannot read another fic in my life ever again.

Please tell me people who look like us can be desired.
Please tell me people who look like us can have happy endings.”
This book has been on my radar for quite some time, due to the fact that involves the world of fan fiction. As a fan girl myself I found myself attracted to it. And the plus size representation was a plus!
I really enjoyed this book. Is it the best goddam romance that I ever read? No. But it is a light, cute, heartwarming romance about a fan girl meeting her celebrity crush that its also her online best friend. Its a good summer reading!
Tully recommend it if you want a light, cute summer reading!
