I loved, loved, loved this book. It gave me a glimpse into the Reagans' beautiful relationship and reminded me very much of the relationship I have with my husband. I am so glad I read this. I laughed and cried and was reminded why I loved President and Mrs. Reagan.

I truly enjoyed this book. Besides the letters (which were beautifully written), there are little anecdotes from Nancy Reagan sprinkled throughout. It was a lovely inside look into their love, which was epic.

I never voted for Ronald Reagan, but I enjoyed this glimpse into the personal life he shared with his wife, Nancy. A lovely look back at times, some forgotten, that shaped us all, is found here, as well as a perusing of sweet moments shared between these two and with others.

This book is a quick read, I finished it in a day, but boy is it an amazing read. The love between Ronald and Nancy Reagan is absolutely beautiful and even from reading their letters it’s totally palpable. I don’t want to ruin the book for those of you who are interested in reading it, but here are a few of my favorite quotes. (Most of these made me cry if we’re being completely honest.)

“I don’t even mind that life made me wait so long to find you. The waiting only made the finding sweeter.”

“Without you there would be no sun, no moon, no stars. With you, they are all out at the same time.”

“I just see you in all the beauty there is because in you I’ve found all the beauty in my life.”

Are those just not swoon worthy? I’m not much of a romantic, but I was completely taken in by the sheer sweetness in each of the letters that Reagan wrote to his wife. Of course it helps that this is a real life love story, and not one made up by a love lorn author who writes down things that she wishes someone would say to her. (This isn’t a jab at any author in particular, just a jab at romances in general.) After reading this I’ve decided I would very much like a man who would love me like “Ronnie” loved Nancy.

So if you’re interested in a softer side of one the US’s most famous presidents or you just want to smile like an idiot at a book in public, I highly recommend this short, sweet piece of non-fiction.

5/5 stars

I loved this book for its "sweetness". It is almost as if someone is allowing us a look at a private stash of letters, which in a sense, she is. There are photos of handwritten letters to Nancy from Ronald, added in some of the chapters. The book takes the reader through from the beginning of their relationship until Ronald's death.

I go through phases of obsessively reading celebrity biographies. I don't know much about the Reagan era, but I came away from this book with a very positive impression of Ron and Nancy Reagan's relationship.

A compilation of selected letters, cards, and tidbits from the relationship of Nancy and Ronald Reagan. This book covers their courtship to the time Reagan was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

Growing-up (literally) during Reagan's presidency, the image he gave was of the fearless leader. Shot one inch from his heart, he survived. Given an enemy in Libya, he did not back down. Now we are given a peek into the personal side of his life and the secrets are shocking! How someone so truly sentimental could be so different as a leader is puzzling and forces the reader to reconsider stereotypical notions of what a good President, man, and husband are.
