Some of the writing in it is a bit cringy. I'm giving it a 3 because I loved reading about her experiences as an indigenous woman. I loved learning about her country and mob. And I could relate to her childhood as I also wanted to be an actor. It was also interesting learning a bit more about the differences between Australian film production vs American through the filming of her movie top end wedding.

What an absolute role model and joy Miranda Tapsell is. She makes me feel very proud to be Aboriginal and to represent us on a world stage.

A very open and honest story of her life so far that is briming with gratitude, optimism and a humbleness that makes her one of the coolest people around. I absolutely devoured this book and wish she was my best friend!

I really enjoyed watching Miranda Tapsell in Love Child. Sadly, I haven't seen any of her other work but will definitely look for an opportunity to see Top End Wedding.

Miranda comes across exactly as she seems on screen - bubbly, enthusiastic, full of joy. There's a lot of exclamation marks in her writing!

The first half of the book, which covered her childhood and entry into acting was very interesting. The second half feel a bit flat for me due to some editing failures. It got a bit repetitive, confusing in parts, some sentences not well structured...

Still, it's very important that we hear more from indigenous female voices and this is a really approachable way for more people to find out about the additional struggles that indigenous Australians face in life.

Love love love love!

Was a light and easy read, but just so beautiful. Loved hearing her story of where she's come from and the making of her movie Top End Wedding. I'm a sucker for BTS, so this one fed my soul.

Reading it made me miss my home town, that is Darwin. I laughed, I smiled and I cried.

Such a beautiful book. One I'd recommend to every Aussie reader.

‘I love what I do and the life I am living.’

In this energetic and engaging memoir, Miranda Tapsell writes of her childhood, her family, her time at NIDA and her work on the stage, on television and on film. Miranda Tapsell is an Indigenous woman from the Northern Territory who has worked hard to succeed as a creative. She writes about the challenges she faced as an Indigenous woman from a remote part of Australia looking for Indigenous role models in acting. She writes about challenges; about her family’s support and the friends she has made.

I found this a heart-warming read because Ms Tapsell’s enthusiasm is infectious. But there are serious issues addressed here as well as Ms Tapsell writes about making ‘Top End Wedding’, about reconnecting to family and culture. There is a reminder too, about what is being lost, especially in terms of Indigenous languages.

Miranda Tapsell was born in Darwin in 1987, and her people are the Larrakia. She grew up in Kakadu. I’d recommend her book to anyone who wants, simply, to be inspired.
