Wow...I knew nothing about the remarkable AvH before reading this. What an interesting fellow.

I'm glad I started with Wulf's "The Invention of Nature" first. This was a very interesting and fun way to display Alexander von Humboldt's travels - I found the combination of his diary pages, historic paintings, photographs, and cartoons visually pleasing. I however found the overarching narrative lacking. I don't feel this captured Humboldt's brilliance in the same way as "The Invention of Nature." I am pleased to have learned more about his experience in Mexico, since that was not well captured in the original book. I view this as a supplemental book to "The Invention of Nature" but not one to replace it.

Loved how she took you on a journey! A very well done graphic novel, I felt like I learned so much.

spanish colonialism and white european men claiming decades of indigenous knowledge as their own :) <3

all cynicism aside though... this was lovely and very interesting to read. the narration was annoying as hell and not all of the illustrations where exactly my cup of tea but i loved how so much knowledge and interesting facts were presented so entertainingly.
i can see this graphic novel appealing to both young as well as adult readers and it's a nice introduction to the biography of a man who i do have a lot of sympathy for not only because he spent so much time in peru but especially because of his pioneering ideas and discoveries on environmentalism and the earth's geographic interrelationships.

Richtig informativ, besonders geeignet für Leute die nicht gerne ewig lange Abhandlungen lesen wollen.

Interesting and beautiful. The only reason this loses a star is for the sometimes-confusing layout of text and for the treatment of Von Humboldt's servant, Jose. The author's note at the end of the book makes clear that they made the decision to conflate the often-unnamed servants from Von Humboldt's notes into a single character, which I'm not sure was the right way to treat this issue. Other than these mild concerns, however, this was a lovely read.

An excellently drawn version of Andrea Wulf's seminal book on Alexander Von Humboldt. I only wish the graphic novel could have been longer and covered more of his life!

Informativo. Se deja leer. Promueve muchas otras lecturas. Las ilustraciones son muy intetesantes.
