This is a book we own and visit over and over again. The illustrations are captivating and the relatable nature of the story is so sweet.

Nico loved this book -- the first time I read it to him, I could feel the tension in his body as the suspense grew. And he laughed with relief when the mama owl came back.

Cute little story about three baby owls confronting skepticism (and struggling with object permanence). Sarah is the smart one, Bill will probably need help the rest of his owl life.
I like how it's illustrated.

We recently read another book about separation anxiety and I’m just blow away by how much more successful this one is. If you are looking for a book that is calm and reassuring, this is the one to pick.
The adorable owls wait for their mother, they grow worried as time passes and are filled with fears, they carefully work up the courage to look for her. She eventually returns with their food and reassured them. This is all done in a way that is not going to create any more fears in children, it doesn’t present more problems to muddy the waters, and it ends with a loving messages The illustrations are also lovely.
