Uhh! The Percy Jackson series was way better than Jason and the Argonauts 2.0.🙃

Suddenly Jason and Piper aren't unsufferable anymore, and that everyone is character development. Hazel was one of the main stars of this book, I love seeing her growing her confidence(, and I repeat, she should have been much older than 13...). Annabeth and Percy in Tarturus had the funniest lines of them all but somehow that broke my heart to pieces in a way I will never be the same.
I think Riordan did a fantastic job on guiding us through this quite unknown place and impossible to survive whilst coming up with the most interesting solutions for their journey down there (instead of the easy way out).

Started out sort of slow, but I love the character development and the focus on some of the "lesser" characters. One of my favorite Riordans so far!
This one is where things really shift. The vibes are much darker, and I love it. This book gives Hazel a much-needed spotlight. Watching her learn to control the Mist was so cool. I was hooked right from the start, and compared to the last book, this one moves at a much better pace.
Leo continues to be one of my favorite characters. His inventions have this innocent, creative charm. I always forget about Buford, but he reminds me so much of the footstool from Beauty and the Beast. Also Frank finally gets the attention he deserves. Seeing more of him was long overdue, and I adore him.
And then there’s Small Bob. I would die for Small Bob.
The character balance is much better in this one. Everyone gets a decent amount of time, and the action felt way more evenly spread out. I also loved seeing more of Piper; it felt like she’d been sidelined a bit before, but not this time. My only real complaint is that one of the final fights ended too abruptly. I was expecting more buildup, but I may just need to go and reread it.
The ending was so bittersweet. Definitely had me choked up a few times. Overall, House of Hades is definitely my favorite so far.

A solid fourth book. I enjoyed it, even though personally I am getting a tiny bit tired of them doing the same thing over and over again. (Rest-fight monster-rest-fight new monster-rest-fight *a lot* of monsters-rest until book five)
But I adore the characters and honestly maybe I’m a little too old for this, so the upper criticism is on me 🫣
I love Greek mythology, the characters and complexities in this and how fast it’s reading, so overall, good.
