Bud is ridiculously sweet and I loved him! Phoenix was a bit damaged, but got there in the end.

Yeah, the Lily Mayne comparisons are real. It’s too similar to not be obvious but not so similar that it felt like it was stolen ideas… i’ll probably continue the series when the rest come out in audio.

I really enjoyed this book! It's a solid follow-up to the first one, though I did find myself leaning slightly more toward the original. That said, Scales and Song has a ton to offer—compelling characters, a plot that just keeps getting more intriguing, and a balance of sweetness and humor that surprised me in the best way. The character development was spot-on, and I felt like I really got to know the main characters even more deeply this time around.

While there were a couple of moments that felt a little dragged out or a bit cluttered, the strong character dynamics more than made up for those small hiccups. There’s plenty of action, adventure, and, honestly, a beautiful love story that I wasn't expecting to be so heartfelt. The pacing definitely picks up as you go along, and I loved how things came together in the end.

Overall, if you liked the first book, this one is a must-read, and even if you’re new to the series, it’s a fantastic entry point. Highly recommend it!

This was so GOOD! It was sweet and surprisingly funny! The chili peppers were chili peppering. The character growth was fulfilling. I really dug it! There were a couple of parts that felt a little drawn out or cluttered but the characters more than made up for it.
