Okay, so this isn’t really what I expected when I saw this book was tagged as “Horror” by my library. I naively assumed all horror books involved ghosts or haunted houses just like in the movies. Just goes to show how clueless I am to this genre.

The cover is of a wolf and from the beginning, I assumed this is about a killer wolf on the loose. The story is so fast paced and the narration was actually quite funny. But then the story becomes darker and darker.. and in the end WTF why am I tearing up? I’m so confused but at the same time so impressed that Cassidy is able to add so many layers to this book. Yes it’s about monsters. But underneath, it’s a book about fear. And Dads.

The bonus afterword was also quite touching.
I suddenly missed my own Dad. I miss you, Dad.

What an unbelievable book! This was easily one of the best horror reads I've come across in quite some time. It was action-packed from the very beginning, with a plot and story that maintained tension and terror throughout.

While the scare and gore factor was intense, there was also a powerful message about family woven into the horror, which I really appreciated. The female lead and the young secondary lead both stole the show, and their epic journey throughout the book was compelling to witness.

Despite the scary moments, there was a great mix of heart and humor that allowed for moments of relief and enabled deeper character development. By the end, what began as a straightforward fight for survival evolved into a profound exploration of right and wrong, and the lengths one will go to protect someone they truly care for.

I was completely blown away by this epic and surprising ride. Its fast pace made it incredibly entertaining from beginning to end.

Unsatisfying read. Lots of suspense , horror and action, that ended in confusion. Didn’t like the ending. Pacing dragged in places.
