I thought this was outstanding! This is a well-written, slow burn alien romance that is serious, gritty, and intriguing. This is not a sweet or funny romance, and I felt it was realistic in how it portrayed two different species not initially being attracted to each other or understanding cultural differences. If you like aliens that give off Predator vibes, a plot that builds, and you don't like instant attraction, then you should check this out.

The aliens are desperate for help and begrudgingly accept aid from humans, who have previously not had any contact with intelligent alien life. This isn't exactly enemies to lovers, but I would describe it as tentative allies to lovers with a touch of forbidden romance.

I will say that this isn't a touchy-feel good romance. The male alien is pretty confused by humans and his feelings for the majority of the book. I still found him endearing because you are able to see his perspective and how he's trying to process things. I'm looking forward to seeing how his character grows in the next book.

This book ends on a cliff hanger, so I'm eager to read the next right away!
