If I Stay
⭐️⭐️⭐️
I liked this book but I wasn’t a fan of the writing style, unfortunately.
It was really fascinating to read about the recent events of Mias life until the accident, though it was sad to read a scene of her family together and then later remembering that they’re gone.

While being trapped in my office quarantining- I found this book on my shelf that | probably hadn't read in almost a decade. I forgot how much of a deep cut this book is- I cried multiple times- and to my delight I found out there's a sequel AND a movie.
I might be late to the game but I feel like I won a prize

Oh my God, this book made me cry a lot. I spent half of my reading crying, this is so not fair. Despite that, I loved it. The story is beautiful, sad, funny, interesting... One moment we're crying and one second later we're laughing really hard.

This book shows us how short life can be and how the simpler moments can be so precious. We have to appreciate our lives while we can.

I really loved this book and I highly recommend it.

Most of the time this book is fine, but then a sentence or scene will really catch me off guard for being so...weird. Like wanting to lick her new boyfriend's sweat off his face (she doesn't, but still) and particularly their intimate moment where they play each other like instruments. It just perplexed me the entire time I read it. It was so jarring. There's no way teenagers do that. I don't care how much they love music.

It's basically about what you expect. It's predictable, but meant to be. It's about exploring an idea, about having a choice to stay or go. I felt the case to go wasn't made quite strong enough. I think it could have been explored more. It's more of a study of a young girl's life and the people she loves. I wish those parts of the story had engaged me better, but it was a quick read, so it's fine.

Overall, I think you generally know if this is the kind of book you'd be into or not. It's emotional. It's sometimes cheesy. It's not particularly deep or revelatory. I feel weird saying this, but it's just a fun book, and it does that well enough, especially for teenage girls.

Loved this book. I enjoyed how it changed into moments from her past and we learnt a lot about each of the characters. I love how the book ended and cannot wait to read the sequel as well as watch the movie when it comes out! An awesome quick read that I'd recommend to anyone!

I loved this book. The narration is brilliant and I was hooked within 5 pages. I thought the descriptions and feelings were brilliant and by half way I was a sobbing mess. I stayed that way till the end and reflected on what it means to make the choice to stay or go.

The characters seemed a bit perfect. I guess, when you're looking at things from a deathbed perspective that's to be expected. Her parents were a bit unrealistic although her brother and Kim were delightful.

The emotions from the characters and the nurses personalities are what reduced me to a bumbling mess. Having been in a situation similar to the family I can say that the thoughts and feelings were nailed. I found myself wondering if a similar situation took place for others.

I'm looking forward to the sequel although it definitely won't be as emotional and memorable as this was.

What a tragic and deeply emotional story that broke my heart 💔!!! I was completely engrossed from start to finish. If you need a good cry then this is the book for you. Truly a story that I will remember forever.

This story starts with a catastrophic car accident that involves Mia's entire immediate family. Mia is the only member of her family to survive and is now in a coma. She is some how separated from her body and is able to watch as her friends and extended family gather at the hospital to possibly say their goodbyes due to her grave condition. We follow Mia as she realizes that it is up to her to make the decision for her future. Will she choose to live or to join her parents and brother who have moved on?
Will she decide to stay?

It was shocking to me that the story started off with such a bang without really getting to know any of the characters. However, as the story unfolds it switches between two timelines that allows the reader to become fully invested in the characters.

This was such a powerful and thought-provoking read!! It makes you think about the choices we make everyday. Some of those choices are mindlessly easy and other choices are difficult. I will say to be prepared for an abrupt ending which is expected due to book two. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"I realize now that dying is easy. Living is hard"
