Picked this up as my first foray into Hemingway's novels after reading "The Paris Wife" and realizing I had never read anything by the man himself. Plus, everyone told me that Hemingway is a great read. And it was - a good approachable read, very straight forward, solid book. There's not much in the way of plot, but more a character study of five friends and some tangled relationships set against the bull fights of Pamplona, Spain. The interactions were amusing and felt natural, although the dialogue was stilted and irritating at times. I was really captivated by one chapter that depicted the bull fights and fiesta and feel that the setting was well rendered and enchanting. The book definitely captures the feeling of the place and the era.
