So, the answer to the unbreakable hex, the one not even the witch who created it could break, the one that should be illegal, was…
Spoiler the power of love?
Really? What a lazy resolution. I was theorizing Damian would lose his soul and Rose would go to hell and back (literally) to get it with the help of his brother, the father (you know one of the princes of hell) maybe making things worse. Idk it sounded logical in my head after the mentions of hell, demon portals, Satan and Rose's new hunting path. I know this is a rom-com but it was so boring once all the above was mentioned and abandoned. How do you turn bounty hunting demons into something I want to DNF?

I don't understand why this is paranormal at all, it could have been a normal story about a vet who used to be in a gang and it would have worked the same, since the supernatural aspect is left aside anyway.

Also what happened to Rose and why did she become Violet? Yes, she's going through a crisis of identity but she was nowhere to be found in these pages, not even the first one, it was like reading Violet all over again and I feel like Olive's personality it's headed the same way and I don't like it one bit. We already had Vi, we need more than the badass, sarcastical, flirty character.

Something about April Asher's writing keeps me hooked enough to see how the story will play out; however, the banter was a bit much for me at times and unfortunately the tropes become too over-the-top as the book goes on.

I received an ecopy of this book via Netgalley; however, my opinions are my own.

It was cute but I liked the first book better. I think society princess becoming badass bounty hunter in 2 seconds was just too much of a stretch for me, and kicked me out of the narrative a bit.

Her as badass volunteer and fundraiser, navigating these events with ease, that worked so much better that I'm honestly not sure what purpose was served by the other thing, and it just didn't fit her.

Also, have to say I don't understand why Ms Soul Hex isn't in jail. Or splattered into goo. I don't care what her rationale was, she doesn't get to unilaterally decide to do that to someone and not face consequences. And I feel like she going to be in the friend group in the next one (Olive's book... not slated for release that I'm seeing, but it's definitely set up here), which makes me not want to read it, because it appalls me. But we'll see.
