Not Your Ex's Hexes

This book was very cheesy and quirky. I kept cringing at lots of things the characters said. It was cute and a quick read but a little too cringy. There were lots of moments where I stopped and rolled my eyes. Lots of acronyms for dumb things that were made up. I’m giving it 3 stars because of how quick it was to read but the story and writing is probably more like 2 stars.

The characters were very immature for 30-something year olds. They really acted and thought more like 16-20 year olds. I found that very annoying throughout the book.

It took me a while to get through it, but I enjoyed this little witch story. Rose is lost. She trained her whole life to be someone she didn’t want to be & now she’s free. She tries different jobs, but nothing sticks. One night, Rose sets out to be heroic but finds herself in jail instead.

Her community service has to be served at the vet’s barn that she broke into. Damian, the vet, is not pleased with this & tries to make her life a living hell. (Not really, though he is a demon, but he does make her shovel shit.)

See these crazy kids clash & battle about everything.
lighthearted

It’s a cute reading, reminds me of “ the secret society of irregular witches”, it has the same light and cute vibe.
I must say that Julian got  my attention more than any other secondary character (must be my bad boy complex)
Rose and Damian’s relationship growing was very cute, but just like any other romance book, they liked each other and had chemistry out of nowhere, but the author build it after, made they know each other so it was cute
I also just figure out that it was suppose to be a plus size book when I checked the author’s Instagram feed to check if there was a book for Julian 🤣 I truly don’t remember ANY mention of it on the book. (Ps. There is no book for Julian #JusticeForJulian #HeDeservesAbook).
The disagreement in the end was very expected (very romcom).
I hoped we would have more of Rose using her powers as a bad ass, or Damian, since they keep saying how powerful they are, but I guess it’s just not that type of book.

If you are looking for a romcom, with a bit of witchcraft, cute romance and strong female characters, that’s it 😌

Alot of story, little spice. Liked at first and then got tired of reading it.

Fun sequel to Not the Witch You Wed. Maybe even a step up.

Thank you to Netgalley and St. Matrin's Press for providing an eARC copy.

Super cute sequel to the first book! I highly recommend that you do read the first book to get full context for this story as there is some background that you can't fully comprehend or get the full context unless you read the first book.

The romance plot is typical and done very cutely. One night stand - meet again in the future - enemies to lovers.

The banter between the two main characters was super fun and their chemistry was hot hot hot.

I wish that that were more uses of Rose's, the main characters, magic. There were only simple small references or uses of it. I really wish there was a larger part of magic in the book since it is a paranormal witch romance.

I can't wait for the continued stories of the rest of the characters!

Small annoyance - I didn't like the "bwitch" term that was used throughout the book, like just say bitch.
