Just another self-hating misogynist whose worst fear concerning his stolen wife is what it says about him that she had a baby with another man.

A fun read. A bit poncy at times.

This story has a collection of fun and diverse characters, each of which I was interested in learning more about as the story went on. I do wish it was longer, it feels as if it was strongest when it was spending time detailing the characters. There is a large portion near the end of the story that the pacing felt a bit weird on. It's one of those books that you get to the end of and you're not sure what it means, but that's not a horrible thing. I had a hoot while reading it.

This was an entertaining, and quite short, book, but I feel that it could have been better. Set in a world similar to the old TV series "Kung Fu", the title character is on a journey of vengeance across the old West. The author mixes in a lot of mystic elements, a la Gabriel Garcia Marquez or Isabel Allende, but it seems like he tries too hard. Sometimes a 100 point dictionary word brings the narrative to a screeching mental halt unnecessarily, sometimes the prosaic waxing just goes on too long. All in all the story was entertaining and wrapped up quickly enough that I was willing to hang in there for the end, which had a good twist. Recommended, but not at the top of the list.

Raw and transcendent, gritty and full of magic, this novel reads like John Wick if said Mr Wick had lived in the old west. A spectacularly enjoyable read filled with moments of beauty and wisdom. A perfect western.
