Riverdale is one of my favorite shows to watch and I was really excited to see that there was going to be books about what happened before the series started and filling in the gaps between seasons.

Loved this book!! It really explains Season 1 of the show a lot better than the show does it self.

I can't wait to read Book 2 in this series!! I love this show so much more thanks to this book!!

I loved this book, however I didn't give it 5 stars due to it not being written clearly in some parts. But on the bright side I could not put this down it was amazing.
Would not recommend for anyone who hasn't watched the first two Netflix series
I also found the part about Veronica and Betty interesting, and I felt very sorry for jughead.

I love Riverdale so of course when I saw this book at Barnes and Noble I had to buy it and I wish I could say I love it as much as I loved the show but really I didn't.

It's nothing to do with the fact that it's set the day before Jason goes missing and a lot of the stuff was revealed in the first season because it was nice getting glimpses of the characters before the start of the show.

My main issues were that the characters seemed off and not like they are on the show. The only character who really seemed not to OOC was Jughead. The other issues was there were times when words were missing and sentences read wrong and I just went, did this even have an editor?

Overall though it was a nice read and one I think dedicated fans of the show may love regardless of its flaws.

I didn't have high expectations going into this book, mainly because I'm not a massive fan of the show, but I did enjoy the first season so I hoped this book would be more like that rather than all the other seasons but unfortunately it was not like I hoped. This book read like a wattpad fanfiction. It was cringey and I was just bored the whole way through.
I liked the fact that it was written in different formats (diary entries, text messages, news reports, ect) but the interesting format did not make the plot any better unfortunately.
If you are planning on reading this then I would recommend picking up the audiobook if you can because the two narrators are very expressive and are the only reason I'm even giving it a star.

After binge-watching season one in a day, my brother and I have tuned in every week for each new Riverdale episode. The combination of a murder mystery and high school drama excites and entertains us! When I found a prequel novel was being published, I was definitely intrigued.

Each chapter of Riverdale: The Day Before switches off between our four main characters (Jughead, Archie, Betty, and Veronica) and includes little snippets from a few of the minor characters. I loved the extra snippets, which were formatted as text messages, emails, and news articles. It was nice seeing a peak into some of the minor characters as we don’t really get to know them in the show as well as we obviously know our main characters. Of these snippets, I enjoyed Dilton Doiley’s the best as we see why he is the way he is (and get an explanation for the bunker that’s featured in season three).

Of the actual main POVs, Jughead’s was my favorite. His voice sounded the most like his on the show and pulled at the heart strings as he struggles through a difficult time. In Archie’s chapters, we see how he and Ms. Grundy got together (and just how creepy she is in preying on high school students). I mean we know from the show how inappropriate their relationship is, but in this book we are given an extra snippet of where she’s texting another student while also seeing Archie. I think both Jughead and Archie’s voices sounded the most similar to the show since their storylines weren’t anything new.

Veronica and Betty’s perspectives, on the other hand, gave us new information. We catch Veronica on her New York scene right before her father is arrested. She’s definitely spoiled, but we already knew this about her character (and have seen her transformation on the show). More than anything, she’s clueless about what’s about to go down as her parents have kept her out of the loop. We do see Hermione prepping for their arrival in Riverdale, though. Betty’s POV was told through diary entries she kept during her internship in LA. This was all new information as I honestly forgot (or possibly never even realized) that she was gone the summer before season one begins. While we do see parts that are definitely Betty (her writing articles and taking on the mindset of Nancy Drew to do some snooping), her voice just felt off to me and I didn’t really enjoy her chapters. Also, she was assigned to write an article on Veronica and tried to contact her, but I’m pretty sure she had no clue who Veronica was in the first episode??? I can’t remember for sure, but this seems like a potential plot hole.

Overall, fans of the show will want to read this prequel to the series! I recommend reading this after finishing (or even in the middle of) season one as the new information will be the most relevant.

I was so very excited to join this tour! I am a huge fan of the TV show and couldn’t wait to start this to see what had happened before the start of the series.

I adored the way the book was set up! You have POV’s from each character and get the background into so many situations that you may have been curious about. Like…Archie and Ms. Grundy, Jason and Cheryl, Jughead and his Dad, Veronica and her life before Riverdale…..and so on!

The book was written as diary entries, regular verse and text messages between the characters. It was fun to read it this way and easier to picture it happening while already knowing the characters themselves.

If you are a fan of the show already, then I suggest just picking this up since it is such a quick, fun read to give a little more insight into the before, but, if you have yet to start the show, this could be a great introduction.
