I was thinking about writing a long review of this, but decided against it. This book didn't connect with me. Obviously it's a very popular book, so it connects with a lot of people. So I was trying to figure out what it is about this book and protagonist that connects with some people so strongly. Here's my theory:

Katniss (the protagonist) is being used by everyone around her. She's just doing her best to survive.

Some people connect with that, perhaps because they feel that way themselves. I don't feel like that, so it didn't connect with me.

Loved this! It is so relevant to the current political climate. I read this when I was a kid and a lot of the political subtext was lost on me. On this read, I couldn't get enough of it. Some descriptions of rebellion, and the feeling of having an awareness of something brewing somewhere out there made me really emotional.

I rushed to get the next one because I absolutely needed to know what happens next.
