“Catching Fire”, the second part of the Hunger Games series, is just like the first one an absolute masterpiece, and I enjoyed it so, so much. I honestly couldn’t get myself to do anything besides reading.

Entertainment-wise, I was completely hooked. The plot, however, felt a little stretched at the beginning, the Victory Tour and the time before the Games take up quite a lot, with the arena only starting around the 50–60% mark. It wasn’t boring at all, but I would have preferred a bit more detail toward the end. That’s the only reason I’m giving it 4.5 stars instead of 5.

The writing and setting were just as flawless as in part one. Reading about the arena while being in an actual jungle myself was an incredible experience.

The characters were beautifully written once again. I was so happy that my favorite, Finnick, finally appeared, and I loved the dynamic and relationships between the tributes. Johanna was also a fantastic addition. Katniss’s relationships begin to shift and you can really feel those changes slowly unfolding. For me, it still feels quite similar to the movies, even though many people say the books are different.

All in all, an absolutely amazing book, and I’m already starting the next one (even though I know it’s going to destroy me).
