I was surprised how much I loved these books. I read another set of romance books recently with a very similar plot, but I think I enjoyed these even more.

Sometimes when I start books, I wonder how in the world the author is going to get me to love the MMC. Macon isn’t lovable in the beginning. He’s a mess. He’s terrible. He hurts Lennon so many times. And then somehow… I loved him. It’s author magic or something.

These books are an emotional roller coaster and I was here for it. There’s trauma, grieving, addiction, backstabbing. Yes, there’s miscommunication in the second book as a plot device. I think we can universally agree this is a horrible trope. BUT, I feel like it was very tolerable for me in this book because (1) the audience doesn’t know the extent of the miscommunication because it’s revealed slowly, and (2) there were serious, legitimate reasons Lennon cut herself off from her family/Macon.

I also really enjoyed the bonus chapter and the extended epilogue on the author’s site. I love it when authors feed us bonus content!

Continuation of Macon and Lennon’s story. Spoilers:
He goes to rehab and she leaves for France with her Aunt.
Miscommunication (and Claire) get in the way so they’re separated for 4 years until she comes back because of her dad’s health.
The angsty reunion was great but could’ve been angstier and  I didn’t appreciate the crude intimacy scenes.
I liked the first book a lot better.
But it was still cute how he made a Lennon room for her to paint and he bought her paintings.
For some reason the jumps back in time didn’t work? It just felt like it interrupted the flow of the story.
