I mean it's Roger Federer. that's worth 4 stars as it is. All in all I really enjoyed reading this - even though I have a tough time reading biographies of those who are still "active" (whether still alive or still playing their sport) because it's almost like the story isn't really finished.
My biggest takeaway from this biography is that it's not the story of how great Roger Federer is, but of the people who made Roger Federer great. It was interesting to look behind the veil of the team pulling the strings to get Roger where he landed - at the top of the tennis mountain.
Very well researched and formatted - an avid RF fan might find this book to be mostly common knowledge but there are enough tidbits to make everyone engage with the material. I did find the chapters sometimes became "in the round" in that they kept circling back to previous material already mentioned. Almost as if each chapter was in and of itself it's own little story.
All together one of the better bio's I've read.

This the fascinating look at someone who achieved the height of his game, while making it appear effortless. The book demonstrates the import of understanding one’s mind, and staying calm and relaxed in order to perform well. This isn’t to stay that Roger was always relaxed, he clearly wasn’t. However, it contrasts his method of gameplay and understanding of how to do his best with those of other champions.
The book would probably be a five star book if I was playing tennis actively today and following the sport. I used to play tennis but I’ve lost touch with it. Therefore, many of the pages went into intimate details of specific matches, and were quite boring. I more appreciated the stories between matches about how he trained, and lived his life. I did end up skipping about 30% of the book for this reason.

As a tennis newb I knew almost nothing about Roger Federer, but really enjoyed Clarey's biography.

Well told story of Federer's 24 year career on the off the court. Truly the master at his craft!

A little too detailed to enjoy reading for pleasure. Good for writing reports in school projects or for people who really want to know each detail of his life.
Or maybe I'm just not in the phase where I gaga over him.
Great nonetheless!
