Ok, I really like Brayden as an author, and I really like this story. There, I said it! Brayden creates characters that are relatable and down-to-earth and Eyes Like Those is no exception. This story is a feel-good romantic journey from cover to cover. Taylor is my favorite of the mains. What’s not to like about her? She’s smart, driven, open-minded, and has a magnetic personality that someone as rotten as Ass-pen can’t say no to. I was all for “Team Isabel” for 90% of the story, til my support came to a screeching halt. I’ve never hated a main character as much as I hated Isabel. I know she’s just a fictional character, but I hoped bad karma would wreak its havoc on her. But supporting besties Gia, Autumn, and Hadley are the epitome of true friendship. Concerning Isabel, Brayden did a great job stirring emotions of anger and disgust in me because I usually don‘t get worked up over fictional characters; it’s just not me. As a result, I have a feeling I am about to indulge myself in this series or have a full-fledged Brayden-athon over the next week. Overall, this is a well-written, well-paced, and well-received romantic story by one of the genre’s best-selling authors.

I love Melissa Brayden’s books and usually I couldn’t wait to finish a book by her and at The same time hoped the book wouldn’t finish at all. Not with this book...It was all over the place for me. I didn’t get to know the MC’s at all and for me there was to much storyline with future MC’s. But I didn’t care for them (although currious so will problably read their story) because they got in the way of me connecting to Isabel and Taylor. For me the relationship/attraction was rushed and I didn’t really feel it unlike in other books by Melissa Brayden. The sensual tension building between MC’s is what I love the most in her books. So no, this one was not for me.

For whatever reason, I wasn't feeling the chemistry quite as strongly here. But it ends with one character admitting she needs therapy and starting to go, so that was good. There's also a cute dog named Raisin.

This one is a bit hard for me because of Isabel’s panic attacks, which I feel all the way to my bones. Hence the 4* on my first read, I think. I’ve read it again and I changed to 5* because what was I thinking?

Reading a romance novel done to perfection is as enjoyable as savouring a glass of red wine and nibbling on dark chocolate after a rough week at work. Or that first rich cup of coffee you’ve been jonesing for and didn’t even realize. Melissa Brayden is a master of the craft. She understands the formula which has been used effectively in mainstream romance trilogies and quartets for decades. It is a tried and true formula that works. It’s all about relationships and the feels you get when you meet these characters with all their strengths and their flaws. It’s about friendships developed, strong female bonds and delicious chemistry between the mains. Add wit, humour and dialogue that sings. Brayden delivers all this and brings us to our happy place when her characters overcome whatever obstacles she throws at them to reach their HEA. By the time Isabel and Taylor battle through their personal and professional challenges we readers are left with melted hearts and sappy smiles on our faces. The answer to the final question in the blurb for this novel,
Spoiler Only you.
was perfection.

Looking forward to seeing what is in store for Gia, Hadley and Autumn. I’m sure we will have more wonderful bonfires on the beach, delicious cups of coffee from The Cat’s Pajamas and heartfelt discussions between friends and lovers.

I was supposed to be cleaning my house, but then this book happened. I like the idea that Isabel it’s not exactly an ingénue and that she doesn’t become Taylor’s protégée. Although they are very different stages in their career, there is a mutual respect and admiration that allows their relationship to develop in a natural way (as opposed to a slightly predatory one).
