I have recently read Jodi Picoult’s Book about the pandemic - Wish You Were Here - which I thought was excellent, so was looking forward to reading this one, especially as some of it echoes times in my life too (my first career was as an archaeologist and I’ve been a birth doula and, well, other things). Sadly I didn’t love it. I felt there were too many stereotypes, several really clichéd situations and the sex scenes were schmaltzy. It is Jodi Picoult so it is a compelling read and of course you can never predict the final outcome!

I was absolutely loving this book until, literally, the last paragraph. It felt like a cop-out to me, a way not to answer the big question. That last sentence knocked out down to 3 stars for me and has left me grumpy.
