NetGalley ARC | I'm leaving the star rating off on this one for Goodreads because I DNF The Book of Two Ways. I read about 20% of the way in, skimmed the last chapter, and just couldn't. The story is congested with textbook details that don't really matter, the plot is all over and eye-roll worthy, and I literally could find nothing to like about this one. Reading it was actually painful. I tried three times.
Picoult is hit or miss for me. I either LOVE her books or don't. This was one of those bad ones.

This was a great book! Very entertaining and compelling! Ending felt kind of rushed though.
I wanted to love this one. The snippet sounded fascinating and intriguing. The first half DRAGS. My eyes kind of glazed over with all the science descriptions and explanations. Once I finally got more into the characters it picked up and honestly left me pretty emotional by the end. I feel like there’s a good story buried here but takes a little too long to find it. If I weren’t reading it for a book club I would have given up…
This was a struggle. I really wanted to love this book. The chapters are incredibly long and they just lose me. I didn’t hate the book but found myself really looking forward for it to be done.
While I may have skimmed some of the detailed parts of Egyptology, the overarching storyline of multiple timelines in a Sliding Doors sort of way is a theme that always fascinates me.
I’ve tired to read this twice not and it just doesn’t capture my attention. Too much content about Egyptian culture to kick off the book, versus the story line.
I'm a huge Jodi Picoult fan so I was very excited to get my hands on this one. However, this was my first go at a JP audio book and I am a fan. This was a great story woven together through time and place, just like other JP works. But this one took me a little longer to get into than normal. I will say that the second half is better than the first half. But if you like her other books, enjoy stories about Egypt, or just need a story of heartbreak and love, then read this. And try the audio book if possible.
Jodi is one of my favorite authors, but this was not my favorite of her books. It took me about halfway through the book to finally get into it, but the end of the story made up for it. Half of the book was a lot about Egypt and reading hyroglifics, which was interesting, but didn't totally grab my attention. Not my favorite Jodi Picoult, but would still recommend.
This goes on the Favorites list
As a longtime lover of all things Egypt and 40something woman reconsidering her life’s journey, I am clearly the target audience for this book. I also have the same maiden name as Dawn! Coincidence? I think not. I knew nothing about this book when I picked it up, so imagine my delight when I started reading it.
